Centerville-Washington Foundation’s Assets Go Over $1 Million During 2007
In its 2007 Annual Report, released at the Annual Membership Breakfast, April 17, the Centerville-Washington Foundation announced that the assets under its umbrella reached $1 million.
The assets were in 10 endowment funds and 28 charitable checking accounts.
Among the highlights for the past year was the October 11 Community Founders Event at Yankee Trace where the Foundation recognized Shirley and Paul Heintz, one of the most prominent couples in the Centerville-Washington Township community, for their commitment to community service.
After serving four years as a member of the Centerville City Council, Shirley served three terms, from 1983 to 1996, as Centerville Mayor. The list of major projects undertaken during her years in office includes the Golf Club at Yankee Trace, Benham’s Grove and the expansion of Stubbs Park.
Before retiring in1986, Paul was Vice President for Finance at the Peter Kuntz Lumber Company. He is a former president of the Dayton Financial Executives Group, a longtime member of the CPA Society and a lifetime member of the Ohio Society of CPAs.
Here are some of the other highlights from 2007. The Foundation:
• Increased the amount of money it raised in 2007 over 2006 by 12.64%.
• Set aside $2,500 for a public art project consistent with the Foundation’s long-range strategy and with Create the Vision, the City of Centerville-Washington Township’s plan that will guide the community’s development over the next 20 years.
• Hosted the Annual Membership Meeting and Breakfast at Yankee Trace on April 26 to report progress to the community.
• Elected two members -- Jeffrey A. Winwood, manager of Winwood Rutledge Co., LLC ; and Robert A. Yeck, president of the 69-year old direct mail/marketing firm Yeck Brothers Company to the Board of Trustees.
• Created a Grants Review Committee and recruited civic leaders Jon Hazelton, Julia Maxton and Bonnie Mathies as members.
• Hosted another in the series of summer fundraisers with Jazz in June on June 15 at Yankee Trace. Oak Hill Banks and Schlegel Creative Resources were sponsors.
The Centerville-Washington Foundation was established in 1998. An affiliate of The Dayton Foundation, the Centerville-Washington Foundation functions as a useful and cost-effective partner for corporate and charitable giving. In addition to providing grants and leadership, the Foundation invests and manages donors’charitable funds.
