Judy Budi Named President of Foundation
Children at a playground, at-risk teenagers, children and adults with special needs, and hungry children benefitted from the spring 2010 round of grants announced by the Centerville-Washington Foundation at its annual membership breakfast meeting this morning at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace.
Grants of $700 each were awarded to:
· John Hole Playground PTO for new playground equipment that will be used by students as well as children in the community and provides hours of entertainment.
· South Suburban Coalition to support a three-day drug and alcohol awareness campaign aimed at teenagers.
· Therapeutic Riding Institute, Inc. to help provide equine-assisted activities and therapies for children and adults with special needs.
· Food 2 Go Program of the Centerville United Methodist Church to help fund a weekend feeding program for hungry children in Centerville schools who receive free and reduced cost breakfast and lunch during the school days but are at risk when school is not in session.
Judy Budi, chair of the foundation’s grants committee, said the Foundation awarded $2,800 in grants in this cycle. “Eleven grants applications were submitted, the largest number of grants considered by the committee at one time,” Mrs. Budi said.
An affiliate of The Dayton Foundation, the Centerville-Washington Foundation has been highly successful in helping people through grants and in helping donors find the best ways of contributing to worthy causes. Citizens interested in opportunities to give back to the local community through estate planning or by supporting the general fund, which provides grants to our community’s non-profits can visit the website at www.CentervilleWashingtonFoundation.org or contact Bob Daley,433-0811.
The Foundation’s grant programs have helped children, seniors, and at-risk populations, as well as provided support to local arts and humanities, conservation and environment, education, health and social service organizations. The next grant award cycle is in September.
